Cultural Immersion in rural Japan
Would you like to experience a deep dive into rural Japanese life? Our first retreat takes place in beautiful Yugawara, Kanagawa — a seaside town known for its rich history, natural beauty, and warm, welcoming locals.
We offer 1–6 month stays that include daily (or more frequent) in-person Japanese lessons, curated cultural excursions, and full immersion in Japanese language and daily life.
The Gold package is intended for people with a serious intent to immigrate to Japan, especially entrepreneurs. We facilitate your respectful integration through curated language and cultural education and constant immersion among the people of rural Japan. The package includes hands-on guidance for visas and business entity creation. Creating a business in Japan is the most direct route to legal residence and it is a stated goal of the Japanese government to facilitate and encourage the integration of foreign entrepreneurs into Japanese society.
This group will be hosted in a hotel or ryokan in the heart of Yugawara, where daily interaction with the local residents will be a matter of course. Location and price TBD.
The Nomad package is our option for digital nomads. Running from 1 - 6 months and featuring daily (or more) group Japanese lessons and weekly 1 on 1 lessons, it represents a deep dive into rural Japanese culture and lifestyle.
The Nomad package provides curated cultural experiences in the heart of historic Yugawara, including trips to onsen (hot springs), parks, traditional restaurants, performances by local artists and daily immersion with the friendly and cheerful people of the town.
The Nomad package will be hosted in a hotel or ryokan (traditional inn) TBD.
The Student Package is the most affordable option. Come spend 1 - 3 months in a charming hotel in beautiful Yugawara. Experience local culture with weekly outings and get comfortable speaking in Japanese with daily group lessons. Live the Studio Ghibli dream of total immersion in rural Japan while learning about the rich history and artistry of the area.
Situated in the historic onsen (hot spring) area, directly next to the Chitose River and within walking distance from parks, museums, cafes, restaurants and cultural activities.
Yugawara is a peaceful rural town surrounded by farms, lush parks, onsen (hot springs), and ryokan (traditional inns). It also carries deep historical significance, dating back to the Heian period — a time when the power of the samurai began to rival that of the Emperor, eventually leading to over 700 years of rule under the Shogunate.
Located directly on Japan’s southern coastline, Yugawara is also just 1.5 hours by affordable train from central Tokyo (and faster with the more expensive bullet train) — making it the perfect blend of tranquil immersion and easy access to the big city.
